Language: Arabic
Region: The Middle East

Description:
Al-Yarmuk was the first daily Arab newspaper to be published from Haifa, with a strong political orientation. From its first issue, it called for confronting Zionism and defending the interests of Arab farmers. The newspaper published news and articles about many families that contributed to the diversion of lands to the Zionist movement, such as the Sursock family and others. It also had Hashemite tendencies, meaning that it supported the rule of Sharif Hussein to succeed the Muslim world after the fall of the Ottoman Empire, and not the rule of the Saudis. Al-Yarmuk ceased to be issued in 1933, apparently due to a change of owners.
