Description:
The Arab Youth Congress published Al-Kifah as a daily beginning on December 5th, 1935. The second issue was published on December 16th of that year, though the rest of the issues, at least through issue 49, came out every day. The newspaper was the voice of the Pan-Arab movement that strove for unity among Arab countries and sought to inspire Palestinian youth against both the Mandate and the Zionist project; the editors had a clear desire to found a new, alternative Palestinian leadership. In June 1936, the newspaper was shut down by the authorities. In 1937, the rights were transferred to one of the paper’s editors, the lawyer Mustafa al-Rashid, with the purpose of renewing its daily publication. The first issue of the new series came out on December 24th, 1937, but it is not clear whether any subsequent issues were published.
